Silver Hill Hospital is a nationally recognized, independent, not-for-profit psychiatric hospital.  Since 1931, we have focused exclusively on providing patients the best possible treatment of psychiatric illnesses and substance use disorders, in the best possible environment – and it’s still all we do.

Our staff expertise encompasses treatment for mood disorders including depression and bipolar disorders, schizophrenia and other psychoses, eating disorders, personality disorders and substance use disorders – with special expertise in treating patients dually-diagnosed with both a psychiatric illness and a substance abuse disorder.

Silver Hill Hospital has both Inpatient Care as well as longer-stay residential facilities that house our Transitional Living Programs, all with one hospital staff, all on one campus. This means that the treatment plan for our patients can be based on the level of care they need and the amount of time they need it, with enough flexibility to adjust the plan to each patient’s progress. 

Inpatient Care for adults and adolescents at Silver Hill Hospital focuses on rapid evaluation, relief from symptoms of illness and, if indicated, detoxification from substances of abuse. We have a high staff-to-patient ratio to help patients achieve rapid stabilization. 

The Transitional Living Program at Silver Hill Hospital allows patients who have achieved stabilization to continue their treatment in a more residential, home-like setting while continuing to participate in a highly structured, intensive program with full-time psychiatric, nursing and social work staff. Its five tracks include Substance Use Disorders, Dual Disorders, Eating Disorders, a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) track for severe personality disorders and an extended stay program for Persistent Psychiatric Disorders.

Family Involvement
At Silver Hill Hospital we emphasize the importance of family involvement. Patients and their families meet individually with our clinical staff. Our Family Forum series provides additional education about mental illness and substance use disorders.
